Day 58: One Step Forward, One Step Back

So today we went to the pediatrician. Never took either girl to one before so did not know what to expect. He advised that we should bring them in next month since they're one month off of the delvelopmental follow up chart. So we rescheduled for August 12th at 9:30am. He advised that normall the delvelopmental checks are 3 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 18 months, 2 years, 3 years, 4 years and 5 years old. So btoh girls will be 3 months and 2 years old next month and we'll do the check up then.

Elizabeth is getting two more teeth. Sure makes her cranky and a bit of a pain to deal with. She also gets so easily wound up. She also isn't eating a whole lot, but I'm guessing it could be caused by those two upper teeth that are coming in. I'm also trying to figure out how to get this kid to go to sleep at night. She stays in bed, but is so loud for upwards of two hours. Not cranky, but playing in bed and just loud! Anyone out there have an idea on how to get her to sleep?

Annaleigh had another bad night. Yesterday she fell asleep without a problem. Tonight she screamed from 8:00pm until 10:45pm. I'm feeling very unsure of myself right now with both girls. These bedtime issues are bothering me big time. I just wish I could get them to sleep without all the fighting. It is the only thing that I really have an issue with right now. Elizabeth doesn't usually give me a hard time except for sleeping. Same with Annaleigh. Oh, well. I'm sure that it'll work itself out sooner or later.

Day 57: Much Better Night

So it is a cuople hours into the new day and I'm going to bed finally. Except that it is not because of my darling Annaleigh. I watched a movie tonight and wasn't interrupted at all by the piercing screams and wails of an eight week old. She actually went to sleep with relative ease. I gave her a warm bath and a light massage with baby lotion and off to dreamland my sweet baby went.

Elizabeth fell asleep rather quickly as well. Must have been the exercise I gave her when we went to the Co-op. She had helped me push the cart all over the store. I also gave her a bath before bed and a nice cup of milk. She was probably asleep within half an hour. It's wonderful when the children go to sleep so willingly.

Today we didn't do a whole lot of anything. We went out to the lake and had a wonderful supper with them. My dad makes this awesome meat and it's great! We were all addicted to it. You just can't stop at one. Annaleigh slept the entire time and Elizabeth 'boinged' all over the place. Of course it was raining so we couldn't go outside, but there was this great rec room that we had our supper in. It worked out just beautifully.

Day 56: Colic, Anyone?

So last night I got to spend a few hours with my sceaming daughter. I did everything you're supposed to and not one thing would calm her down. I even put her in the carseat and took her on a drive. It was a good 30 minute drive too and she was still awake by the time I got home. So it was a very, very long night for me last night.

This morning, my wonderful husband let me sleep in until 10:00. He even did dishes. Of course once my day starts I pretty much feel like I get nothing done because of Annaleigh. She just doesn't seem content unless I'm holding her. I can't do that though because then my Elizabeth gets left out. So she's been having a few small periods of crying without me picking her up. She has to or I'd never be able to do anything.

Elizabeth is learning new words all the time. She is so loud!! It's all good though. I don't mind her being loud and having fun. I knew a little girl who wouldn't play and it bugged the heck out of me. I enjoy watching kids play and have fun. It's important for them to.

Annaleigh is now starting to make some noises. A couple times some coos and sometimes some interesting gasps of surprise. She enjoyed her bath tonight and I rubbed in baby lotion into her little body. She loved it. She was so much more relaxed tonight than yesterday. I'm going to start getting into a routine of giving both girls a bath before bedtime. Maybe it'll make it easier for them to fall asleep.

As for me, I'm addicted to a new game. It's called Evony and you basically build an empire. Luckily the further up your stuff is in levels, the longer it takes to build it. So I have plenty of time away from the computer. Especially when my fortification walls take 6 hours to create!
